Why are High School musical and Hannah Montana so successful?
So I am doing a study on kids’ programs (particularly Disney programs, because they basically have the monopoly on them).
What really struck me was how successful programs like High School musical, Hanna Montana and others are. So my question is, why do you think this is?
Do these programs (and the personalities that emerge, like Jonas Brothers) reflect American Society, and if yes, how?
What kind of values and ideas do they transmit to the young viewers?
I would be really interested to know your opinions on this.

maybe because parents let their kids watch it because they don’t swear or have strong sexual themes? I really don’t know. i haven’t seen either, and i don’t plan on it.
It seems to reflect on our culture that parents will willingly let their kids watch/listen to crap, as long as there’s no swearing or sex in it.

because lots of kids and teens watch disney channel and hannah montana and high school musical are the main stars on dosney channel and therefore stand out to the young viewers and they start to be fans.

Because everything that Disney promotes gets to people because of their marketing power.

Programs like Hannah Montana and High School Musical are successful for a number of reasons. I think one of the biggest reasons is that they present plots/situations that kids wish they could find themselves in:
Hannah Montana is a pop star who gets to live a life of fame, her persona is liked by everyone, she gets to dress up in flashy clothes, etc. On the other hand, preteen viewers can relate to her alter-ego Miley Stewart who goes to school, has boy troubles, an annoying older brother. Yet even her “normal” life is glamorized.
High School Musical fulfills the stereotypical fantasy of falling in love, and also being famous/popular, although perhaps on a smaller scale, the high school.
In terms of values, High School Musical seems to attempt to promote the value of having a sense of community through the group effort and sense of teamwork that is presented. The virtues of kindness are also depicted through Vannessa Hudgens’ character; as the protagonist, she comes out as the “winner” at the end of the film, scoring the guy and popularity. Ashley Tisdale’s character who is mean and conceited is the antagonist.

With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright violation? My blog has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my agreement. Do you know any solutions to help stop content from being stolen? I’d genuinely appreciate it.
