What is a reasonable amount to give somebody requiring sponsorship for a charity fund-raiser?
My friend is raising money for a charity and needs sponsorships. I don’t want to give too little and seem cheap, but have no idea what is acceptable.
What do you think?
I’m in the UK, so in pounds please. Thanks.

It depends on what he is doing and how much spare cash you’ve got.
I find it easier to give a donation rather than to sponsor X amount per mile. Recent sponsor sheets I’ve seen have had anything from £1 up on them.
I stick to a £5 donation.

1.Cheap is when you can, but don’t give. It does not depend upon the amount given, but upon your ability to give.
2. It depends upon the target fund.
What charity is this, and how much are they hoping to raise?
There is no fixed amount (even in pounds) that is a standard non-cheap amount.

it depends on the type of charity that your friend is raising, your affordability and your interest.

dont give what you cant afford – charity is meant to be nice and show you have a heart – not to impress people !
I would think 5 pounds in UK probably buys the same as 5 bucks american – …..NOT MUCH….LOL!!
Assuming your not Ebenezer Scrooge and your in a good mood I would say the avg for a charity/sponsorship is about 20 bucks here –
Any amount is better than nothing – if your afraid of being viewed as cheap I would think giving less than 10pounds you would be on the low end of the giving sheet!!!
Good Luck!

Don’t offer anything.
These scroungers are like stray dogs – Feed ’em once and they’ll be back for more, and they’ll be baying at your door in packs in the end.
If they want to raise money tell them to fill the pot themselves then go for a long run off a short pier.
Oh! One more thing.
Friends don’t put you in situations like this.
Enemies put you in situations like this.

I’d say a fiver is OK. I’ve been raising money for Cancer Research and all my colleagues at work gave £5.
