You’ve read the play, right? You must have some ideas about the characters’ personalities. Take Tybalt, for example. Would you say that he’s calm and peaceful, or that he’s fiery and quarrelsome? Whatever your answer, there are specific moments in the play, specific things he says and does, that help to give you that impression of what his personality is like.

Same deal with all the other characters. Is the Nurse refined and elegant or is she earthy and bawdy? You already know what you think of her. Just identify the words and deeds that support your opinion. Then do the same with the others. (By the way, Friar John, Lady Montague, and Balthasar are not exactly major characters.)

Prince Escalus knows theres conflict, but almost tries to hide it. He takes both sides of the argument. Hes agreeable, arrogant, and a noble almost, snob.

Juliet is shy and inncocent, but wants to try new things, thus making her adventureous.

Paris is a hopeless stubborn romantic who cant wait to marry Juliet. He knows what he wants but isnt quite sure how to get it.

Mercutio is humorous and rarely serious. Hes lovable and also arrogant.

Benvolio finds the middle of romeo and mercutios personality, and is fun and outgoing, but not so completely humorous like Mercutio and not as serious as Romeo can be at times.

Balthasaur is not really a main character, but he takes the side of Paris so he is disagreeable, but easliy convinced with money and/or bribes.

Lady Capulet is somewhat of an aristocrat bitch (for lack of a better word) but has a nice facade for everyone who is not a member of the montague family.

i cant seem to remember the others too well, but i hope that helps you at least some.

You can find it in the reading. Seriously, the story isn’t that hard to understand. I’m only going to do a few, having faith that you can do the rest.

Romeo – handsome, intelligent, sensitive, impulsive, immature.
Juliet – naive, courageous, immature, determined
Friar Laurence – civic-minded, hopeful, mentor
    Nurse – vulgar, long-winded, sentimental
    Balthasar – dedicated, honest, reliable
