I want to create Iphone Applications and a web page but I want to do it myself- any suggestions where to start?

I am a graphic designer but I have very little experience with online design. I would like to create a website for my business (with a store) and an Iphone application. However, I have very little money to pay a developer. Can you give me some suggestions on where to start???

Well for the website there are plenty of online web editors you could use such as Webs.com (my personal favourite) you can easily build a site using the drag and drop interface. I suggest websites first because if your intending to get into coding (as your desire to create an iphone app would suggest) then its good to start with Html as its on of the more fairly straightforward programming languages, strictly speaking its not a ‘programming’ language as such but is defined rather as a mark up language or ‘script’, So the best thing to do would be to look up various html tutorials, with the addition of things like java, forms, flash content etc, this can get complex very quickly.

For an idea of how complex web programming can be take any web page, if your new google probably would be the simplist as its very minimalist, on a blank part of the page right click, select view source and there you will see the source code or html, of the site and all the various forms and functions, commands and formulae etc

If this doesnt daunt you and you still want to create your page and app, first find out which programming language the iphone uses, im not familiar with this myself although im informed they were very forthcoming with the source code for the iphone so that developers could get their hands on the core of the system and start churning out apps, so it shouldnt be hard to get a hold of the source code, you will also need a code editor, code compiler etc again these are all dependant on the code it uses eg, C++, python, java etc are all types of programming languages

If this is all sounding like geek talk then maybe programming isnt for you, I found visual basic probably the easiest language to use but again to write apps for the iphone you will have to do it in the programming language it uses.

    Checklist
    -research html
    -find tutorials
    -view some page source

    -research iphone operating system
    -install relevant programming language
    -find tutorials
-study tutorials in depth, dont attempt to leap into writing a program thing of all the things you’ll need. Image editors for setting up the user interface, code compilers, editors, debuggers

it can be a lot of work!
