I hear the tea party and the Republicans say they were going to repeal Abortion on demand?

What has changed? They had Bush in the white house and Congress for four years and did nothing?Would someone please tell what why now?

i’m sure some of them would love too, while others probably couldn’t care less.

however, the tea party would have to have a HUGE victory to get past the 60 votes needed to block a filibuster, not to mention the two thirds majority in each house to override a sure veto by president obama. iow, this is all smoke and no fire.

It’s a far right position to close all the gynocolgy clinics,
not just to end abortion, but to reduce availability of
    birth control and gynecological information.
There are 6 senators who favor forcing full term pregnancies
on all pregnant women, even in cases of incestual rape.
That way ALL the clinics can close.

they are going to have an EXTREMELY difficult time ever getting abortion outlawed. Bush didn’t do anything because he didn’t want to touch it. Abortion ended up being decided in the Supreme Court, and if it would end up back there, even if the justices at the time are against abortion, they put very high precedence on past rulings, and would have to determine that the ruling in Roe v Wade was unconstitutional in some way. trying to just outlaw abortion through congress would be fruitless, even if republicans manage to secure a majority, which seems unlikely, they will never get enough to get it through, and as someone above me has said, obama is a firm supporter of women’s rights, even though he has said he does not agree with abortion. he is SURE to veto anything they send at him attempting to change abortion laws.

Every election cycle, the republicans throw out the same rhetoric to pander to their followers to gain control…yet when they do get control….they do nothing. The last administration was sidetracked with taking care of the Middle East..changing reasons in mid stream. For a party that states freedom and liberty…they sure do police the actions of people….more so than any other party! Bush said he would rather be a dictator. More empty promises…with their hands in our pockets they promise the world and give only to the rich and the corporations.

Seems they worry more about taking care of the campaign contributors than the people that pay taxes. Interesting that last night small businesses was finally defined as the number of owners….NOT the number of employees or the revenues. One more way to control the people…keep them poor, uneducated and scared….that is how they control the masses.
