How long did Cobb and his wife sleep for?

I’m terrible at math. So in the film Inception how long do Cobb and his wife dream for if they were stuck in limbo for 50 years? Remember 5 minutes reality equals 1 hour of dreaming. Yes, even with the power of math and the internet I’m still that lazy.

5 minutes in real world = an hour (60 minutes in 1st layer dream)
1 minute in real world = 12 minutes in 1st layer dream
    So the formula is 1:12.

    Let’s do the Math!
    1 year = 365 days = 8,760 hours (365 days x 24 hours)
    50 years = 8,760 hours x 50 = 438,000 hours

    Limbo (50 years): 438,000 hours
    Upper Layer: 438,000 : 12 = 36,500 hours
    Upper Layer: 36,500 : 12 = 3,041.67 hours
    Upper Layer: 3,041.67 : 12 = 253.47 hours
    Upper Layer: 253.47 : 12 = 21.12 hours (21 hours and 7 minutes)
    Upper Layer: 21.12 : 12 = 1.76 hours (an hour and 45 minutes)

    We have 2 possibilities:
    1. a day (21.12 hours) or
    2. an hour and 45 minutes (1.76 hours)

Cobb & Mal learn about dream layers, they go deeper & deeper till they lost their way. So we can assume Cobb and Mal went 4 or 5 layer deep inside their dream when they lost sight of reality and stuck in the Limbo.

One thing for sure, Cobb and Mal sleep for hours, not days. (^_^)
Cobb: We were working together. We were exploring the concept of a dream within a dream.
I kept pushing things. I wanted to go deeper and deeper. I wanted to go further. I just didn’t understand the concepts that hours could turn into years down there. That we could get trapped so deep. That when we… when wind up on the shore of our subconscious we lost sight of what was real.

    Lazy… welcome to the club.
I don’t wanna bother you with huuuuuuuuuuge complicated calculations here, just a simple explanation.

In Limbo the 5 Minutes = 1 hour doesn’t apply. Remember that the deeper you go, the faster time flies, so in level 2 5 Minutes could be 2 or 3 hours. That doesn’t matter though, because Limbo doesn’t really have a defined time conversion or whatever.

Remember that at the end Saito is shown as an old man, after being stuck in Limbo for maybe 6 to 7 hours of real time he has aged pretty badly, meaning he’s been stuck there for over 50 years.

So maybe Cobb and Mal have been asleep for about that long too.
