With the light microscope the specimen that is being examined can be alive. But with electron microscopes all the specimens are not alive, and sliced into pieces so you can’t examine the cells actually functioning as you could with a light microscope. But on the other hand electron microscopes are much more detailed and you can see smaller pieces of information that can’t been seen using light microscopes.
