Why is my ready meal packet filled with air and swollen up? Is it safe to eat?

So I just was about to cook this curry ready meal but its filled with air so the plastic covering is like inflated above the packet. Is it safe to eat as I’ve heard that if theres bacteria in it they release gases which cause the packet to inflate? It is well in date, but the cardboard bit with the date on can be removed easily, so the date could be wrong.
I haven’t even cooked it yet, I just took it out of the fridge, took off the cardboard covering, and noticed it was inflated.

I took a class on Microbiology, so I know what I am talking about. I would NOT take my chances. Where did you buy it? I just… I wouldn’t trust it. Don’t eat it. PLEASE. Respond if you do. Respond if you don’t. Respond even if someone else eats it. Ok, hope it helps, and good luck!

If there are a lot of veggies in it, it is probably just ethylene gas that is naturally released from produce.

But if you’re really concerned call or email the manufacturer of the product, the info is usually right on the label.
