Why did the ruin The Karate Kid by putting in a black kid and asian man?
They original had a white kid and japanese men. Karate is a japanese exercise. They totally ruined it.

Lol funny I think Jayden did the best job possible for any actor in his age range, black or not. I also think this movie was more tastefully done then the original and isn’t as ingrain in stereotypes. The movie is also culturally significant and will smith was the director. Why are you mad but then again why do I care we just got different opinions.

Karate is for whoever wants to learn. I don’t like remakes either, but I don’t base that opinion off race…that would make me a moron.
@poop – And who was being “politically correct” or making a fuss about a 20 yr old movie??? No one! His father directed it, so of course he is going to use his son. Had it been a white kid, you bigots probably wouldn’t have any complaints. go to sleep!

They did it to be politically correct. Everything these days has to be politically correct or groups will start trouble about it.

Since when are Japanese men not Asian? Karate is a Japanese exercise all right, I’ll agree with that. But if you know anything about their history, Karate was first written as 唐手, before evolving into 空手. They are both pronounced the same, but 唐 means “Chinese” fyi, and not to mention Karate has elements of Chinese kenpō in it.
But for the sake of staying true to the original film, I would also prefer them not to change so much in the new film. I haven’t watched either, so I can’t judge.

Political Correctness !!!!
I totally agree …… the movie was RUINED !!

I think they ruined it by casting a spoiled liitle rich kid who looks like he is 9 fighting kids who look about 15. Also the fact that it was called karate kid but the kid learned Kung fu drove me up a wall.
Hey Will Smith, stop buying movies to put your ugly kid in, And stop asking your rmusic friends to pay attention to your daughter. I really doubt Jay-Z honestly thinks your 9 year old is the next Rhianna.

It was actually a good movie. I’m not crazy about it, but I did love the fighting…even thougn not enough. It’s remake and they can do whatever. Why does it have to be a white kid? It’s 2010.

Jackie Chan was a decent choice to replace Pat Morita, and I am sure if Pat Morita was still alive…he would either come back or have a part on the movie. I also don’t mind Jaden Smith playing the role, BUT and this is a huge BUT, they should not have done the Crouching Tiger type aerobatics where they use too many wires and make it look like the kid can fly and do crazy flips. I hate that. They should have kept the original idea only modernized it.

I never seen the new one, but I think it’s political correctness.
