Why did Herold sent astrologers and tell them come back?
(Matthew 2:8) and, when sending them to Beth′le‧hem, he said: “Go make a careful search for the young child, and when YOU have found it report back to me, that I too may go and do it obeisance.”
Why didn’t Herold go search Jesus himself?
Just something to think about.
Thanks.

Cause he was lazy. Kings never did their own work.

If Herod went personally people would have noticed and may have caused some suspicions. Sending the astrologers and having having them tell him exactly where the new “King” was would have made it very easy for a sneak attack.

He just wanted to find out where Jesus was so that he could, he thought, destroy the opposition. For Jesus is to be King and Herod knew this. As his men couldn’t find Jesus he ordered that children of the age Jesus was should be killed.
