what’s the difference between beef and dehydrated beef?
My mom is on a diet and she wants to know what’s the difference between beef and dehydrated beef. Like do the calories or protein change? I am not talking about the beef jerky you get at the store but home made without any flavoring. Please help 🙂

All the moisture is sucked out of dehydrated beef.

Anything dehydrated means most of the moisture content or water has been removed. I think some of the flavor goes out too. I don’t think the calorie content changes though. Best thing to do on that is check the Nutrition Facts label on the package.

It is just the moisture having been removed. Keep in mind that almost all dehydrated beef has the fat removed before hand. Fat will not dehydrate. It will melt and make a mess of your dehydrator.
Since all dried beef has been stripped of all visible fat, that leaves moisture as being the only difference.
The calories do not change since water has no calories.
