How is God forgiving when he won’t forgive what Adam and Eve did?

He’ll forgive you (according to Christians) if you take some woman into the woods, rape her and behead her. Possibly not even in that order. But for some reason he’s still pissed off about the eating of his special stash of Knowledge Fruit.

Jump to Jesus’ update…the prodigal son.
    Luke 15

15:11 And he said, A certain man had two sons: 15:12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

15:13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

15:14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

15:15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

15:16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

15:17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, 15:19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

15:20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

15:21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

15:22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: 15:23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: 15:24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

    You don’t know that.

We don’t know what happened to Adam & Eve because the Bible doesn;t tell us.

He did forgive them, doesn’t mean there wasn’t consequences for their actions..

The Adam and Eve story is stupid. It’s like a mother putting a packet of sweets in front of a baby to test it’s obedience, then when the baby takes one the mother chases it out the house.

I know whats up with that? I guess the garden of Eden wasn’t so perfect if god was being a dick about what not to eat, Why would he put that tree in the Garden?

Christianity contradicts itselfs hundreds of times.

Just don’t worry about it and either go along with the religion, not critizing other religions, or don’t follow/follow a different religion and don’t critize other religions.

Just be happy, do good, be nice, make others happy and you have nothing to worry about, regardless of your beliefs.

Well one God (of the Bible) forgives ALL sins except Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. He does however still punish sin.

I think you’re idea of forgiveness is the problem. If you recall, Adam and Eve lied about eating the fruit and didn’t ask to be forgiven.

They didn’t even ask for forgiveness.

  11. Richard said :

They were perfect and all they had to do was refrain from eating the fruit from one tree. Compare that to what Jesus had to go thru to prove his integrity as a perfect man. From that perspective we can see why Jehovah chose to not forgive them.

He did forgive Adam and Eve. Genesis 3:21 implies it.

Genesis 3:21 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=gen%203:21&version=NASB; The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.

    This symbolizes forgiveness.

Genesis 3:17 reveals that God did not curse them directly, but cursed the ground instead.

The truth is, we are not suffering because of Adam and Eve, but instead of, in the place of Adam and Eve. Because they were the first man and woman, God forgave them.

The Scriptures may say that He is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34), but the various Scriptures which state that God has no partiality are quoted out of context.

God respected (regard: a feeling of friendship and esteem) Adam, which is why He refers to Himself as He.

Simply put Adam & Eve commited an act of purposeful rebellion.
Its not like they had weaknesses and gave into them.
For them, it was natural to remain faithful.
They had to make an effort to disobey.
But they consciously made the effort.
    That’s rebellion.
Your wood, rape, beheading example does not mean God would forgive.
He would judge it on its own merits, just as he did Adam & Eve.
God’s forgiveness is conditional, not absolute.

If GOD didn’t forgive why are we still living, your concept of God is wrong, next you would say that he is a murderer and you would be wrong there too, God is not what you think unless you are on the evil side and can’t give credit to the fact that the Devil is the cause of the fall, and evil came by it The fruit of good AND evil is why man wants to become so argent at God, which would be woe to you. If I was GOD or you, wouldn’t you be pissed that your creation did what you said not to do, and did it even though you told them why they shouldn’t and what it would do, the devil is the falling angel and its because he wanted to become God that all this was temptation to Adam and Eve. Do you have any fear for God you are not in right standing with God that means you are one of the unrighteous work for the devil. I fell sorry for you.Stop trying to find fault in God and ask yourself where you would be if God didn’t care?
