The Boston Massacre was among the earliest signs of the British imposing their authority upon the colonies. The British opened fire on civilians because they were pelting the soldiers with snowballs, but they were otherwise unarmed.

The shot heard ’round the world was at the Battle of Lexington and Concord, more specifically at Lexington. Previously, the Massachusetts militia had been mobilized to fight the British, but this was the first time they were put into action. The militia was one of the earliest forms of the Continental Army which fought the British in all thirteen colonies.

the Boston massacre was indeed a reason the colonists had against the British for independence but you must know that it was just some homeless beggars who annoyed the soldiers with snowballs, who out of surprise open fired and killed just 5 colonists, but Samuel Adams used this little fight and exaggerated it to sound like a massacre, portraying the British as people with extremely evil intentions
