Just awful. It use to be worse at the turn of the century when it actually was ‘ coca ‘ cola. Tried ‘ Poopsi Cola ‘ yet? Well what’re you waiting for??!!

  11. p_rutherford2003 said :

Yeah it can eat metal, dissolve meat, and unclog drains.

The sugars can rot your teeth and all that stuff.

As far as your stomach goes: It’s already got acid in there more potent than found in almost anything edible on the planet. The lining can handle it.

This is really an eye opener…. Water or Coke?
We all know that water is important but I’ve never seen it written down
    like
    this before.

    Water

    1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

    2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often

    mistaken for hunger.

    3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as much as 3%.

    4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost
    100%
of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study!

    5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue

    6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could

significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

    7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory,
    trouble
with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a

    printed page.

    8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer
    by
45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50%
    less
    likely to develop bladder cancer.

And ! now for the properties of COKE

    1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of

Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident

    2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in
    two
    days (meat will completely dissolve).

    3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and
    let
the “real thing” sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in
    Coke
    removes stains from vitreous china.

    4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a
rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminium foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

    5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of
    Coca-Cola
over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

    6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the
    rusted bolt for several minutes.

    7. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of
    greasy
clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola
    will
help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your
    windshield.

    For Your Info

    1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It
    will
dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium
    from
bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

    2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must
    use
the Hazardous Material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive
    materials.

    3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of
    their
    trucks for about 20 years!

Now, the question is, would you like a glass of water or coke?

put a dirty coin in a glass wiv some coke n look at it in the morning!

  16. lontopcat said :

See if you can get a tooth somewhere, an old one belong to you or something, put it soaking in coke overnight and see the results.
    You’ll never drink it again!!!!!!!

  17. karen wonderful said :

It has a lot of sugar and caffeine both of which are not good for you. There is also significant amounts of acid which can damage the stomach if drunk without food. It will darken the teeth too.

  18. Hono_Loulou said :

I left a tooth (don’t ask!) in a glass of Coke 10 years ago for about 8 hours – you should have seen the coating it left on the tooth. Couldn’t even scrape it off after….
Don’t have a clue how bad it is for you from a medical point of view though.

  19. mad_hat said :

I use it to clean the hard water stains out of my toilet and sink. I would never drink something that would take those stains off my enamel sinks. Imagine what it does to the enamel on your teeth…yuck.

  20. WickedWordCraft said :

Carbonated beverages like the one you mention strip enamel from teeth, stain your teeth and break down your bones in general by leaching away the calcium (the combination of caffeine, carbonic acid and other additives.) And the constant sugar-coating encourages cavities.

So, where teeth are concerned, it’s horrid. Dentists who have addicted patients often recommend that you use a straw to drink colas to bypass the effects on the teeth as much as possible.

As for your stomach — again, not so great. It may be a contributing factor in ulcers — especially for those prone to ulcers anyway.

Systemically, it’s a bad idea to drink colas — and it’s even worse if you add the additional problems associated with artificial sweeteners for these drinks.

    My advice? Steer Clear!

    Health benefits and concerns
    Crohn’s disease

A person with Crohn’s disease might consume more sugar than the average healthy person. While details of how sugar injures the intestine are still being uncovered, doctors often suggest eliminating all sugar (including soft drinks with added sugar) from the diets of those with Crohn’s disease.

    Female infertility

Soft drinks are a source of caffeine, and while not every study finds that caffeine reduces female fertility, many doctors recommend that women trying to get pregnant avoid caffeine.

    Gastritis

Caffeine, found in some soft drinks, increases stomach acid. Avoiding caffeine-containing soft drinks should therefore aid in the healing of gastritis.

    Hypoglycemia

Even modest amounts of caffeine may increase symptoms of hypoglycemia. For this reason, caffeinated beverages (such as some soda pop) should be avoided.

    Insomnia

The effects of caffeine—a stimulant—can last up to 20 hours, so some people will have disturbed sleep patterns even when their last cup of coffee was in the morning. Besides regular coffee, there are many other sources of caffeine, including many soft drinks.

    Kidney stones

In one study, men who refrained from drinking soft drinks (especially drinks containing phosphoric acid) reduced their risk of stone recurrences compared with men permitted to consume soft drinks. Phosphoric acid is thought to affect calcium metabolism in ways that might increase kidney stone recurrence risk. Research in this area remains somewhat inconsistent, however. In one large trial, people who consumed more soft drinks were not at increased risk.

    Osteoporosis

Like salt, caffeine increases urinary loss of calcium. Caffeine intake has been linked to increased risk of hip fractures, and to a lower bone mass in women who consumed inadequate calcium. Many doctors recommend decreasing caffeinated beverages, including soft drinks, as a way to improve bone mass.

Cola drinkers have been reported to have an increased incidence of bone fractures, although short-term consumption of carbonated beverages has not affected markers of bone health. The problem, if one exists, may be linked to phosphoric acid, a substance found in many soft drinks. Although a few studies have not linked soft drinks to bone loss, the preponderance of evidence now suggests that a problem may exist.

    Premenstrual syndrome

Women who consume more sugary foods and caffeine-containing beverages appear to have an increased risk of PMS. Among a group of college students in the United States, consumption of caffeine-containing beverages was associated with increases in both the prevalence and severity of PMS. Moreover, the more caffeine women consumed, the more likely they were to suffer from PMS. A preliminary study showed that women with heavy caffeine consumption were more likely to have shorter menstrual periods and shorter cycle length compared with women who did not consume caffeine. Therefore, many doctors recommend that women with PMS avoid sugar and caffeine-containing beverages.

Coke contains sodium benzoate, a chemical that in acidic solutions (such as sodas) can break down into benzene, a known carcinogen. Also, the caramel coloring for Coke is made by an ammonia process– ammonia is toxic. The phosphoric acid in coke causes low blood levels of calcium, resulting in a higher risk for brittle bones and fractures, especially for children. And Diet Coke is no better, as the artificial sweeteners in it (Aspartame, Acesulfame K) pose many health risks, including cancer.

  31. Nikki said :

To be honest, pretty bad. Check this out.

In children it causes weight issues as well as other developmental issues (when consumed in large amounts).

Dental studies prove that drinking 3 or more servings of soda a day causes 62% more cavities and tooth loss. So these soda drinkers are not only gaining weight, they are destroying their teeth.

Diet soda contains aspartame, which has been linked to different types of cancer, and most articles indicate that it actually causes weight gain, due to water retention. Also, this sugar substitute can increase you insulin level, which is your fat making hormone.

By the way, i’m drinking one right now. ; )
